GameDay M15

Os traemos la lista de los mazos del Game Day del pasado día 9! Mientras se celebraba nuestro popular Open de Modern, 41 aguerridos jugadores se dieron cita en tan magno evento.

Cada integrante del top 8 eligió su Scryland predilecta. Si calculáis bien, veréis que son 10 playsets y 8 jugadores. Nos "sobraban" dos playsets que decidimos dar al top 10! :)

Por otra parte, si echáis un vistazo a los mazos que consiguieron pasar al top8, os daréis cuenta que el formato está más abierto que nunca. Cada semana que pasa Standard es un poquito mejor, ya que hay un montón de mazos distintos. Puedes inventar cualquier cosa, que obtendrás unos resultados más que decentes y encima te lo estarás pasando bien!

La entrada de M15 al formato, ha traído las tierras (painland) que tanto juego van a darnos. Podemos jugar muchísimos colores con una base de maná muy estable. Así que hay que elegir qué nos gusta y meterlo en el mazo!

Acabaron enfrentándose Gerard Palacios y Dani Lopez en una final muy ajustada. Gerard con Jund, y Dani con Burn. El mazo tricolor se alzó con las victoria en la última partida, estando a muy pocas vidas y con un Burning Earht en el campo, esperando que Dani no robara una chispa o un maná blanco. Felicidades!

PTQ Khans of Tarkir Barcelona

El pasado domingo día 10 de Agosto celebramos el PTQ para Honolulu y fue todo un placer hacerlo.

En cuanto al metagame, no hubo demasiadas sorpresas. Aunque no triunfaron los mazos más competitivos y que más se esperaban. Lo cual demuestra que Modern es un formato muy sano en el que todo puede triunfar!

Muchísima gente se atrevió con Tron (tanto la versión mono azul cómo la R/G). Pero sólo consiguió pasar el corte final Gerard Farreras, en una ajustada semifinal en la que fue azotado por los mulligan en las dos partidas decisivas. Una lástima por él, pero el azar también juega en Magic.

En cuanto a la masificación de Pods del primer día, también las encontramos en este PTQ, aunque finalmente ninguna alcanzó la gloria. Empezaron con muchos empates en las primeras rondas y ya fueron a remolque.

En cambio el mazo de Affinity sigue más en forma que nunca. No para de cosechar éxitos, y sus cartas no son muy difíciles de conseguir. Dos alcanzaron el top 8, incluso Antonio Martos perdió una ajustada final. Más suerte en lo que queda de temporada.

El otro jugador que comandaba Affinity era Dani Lopez, conocido jugador de El Nucli, que seguro que estará dispuesto a firmaros vuestro Galvanic Blast en la tienda si lo veis un día ;)

Quintero volvió a repetir éxito con la combinación de Zur y Doran. Un mazo sin duda muy divertido y donde hay para meterle mano para mejorarlo. Al final jugamos a esto para divertirnos, y este mazo cumple su función muy bien.

Gonzalo Balot se marcó una primera posición tras las 8 rondas del suizo con su mazo insignia: Soul Sisters! Parece que estaba mejor posicionado en el metagame de lo que parecía y Gonzalo supo aprovecharlo. No olvidéis felicitarlo la próxima vez que lo veáis por la tienda!

Uno de los mazos que van ganado presencia en el formato es el de Merlfoks. Con la ayuda del Master of Waves y los spellskite para defenderlo. Una clara muestra de que la unión hace la fuerza y un buen general comandando tu ejército es muy importante. Así lo vio Marco Orellana y sus 'pescaos'.

Sergio Vivas en todo el fin de semana combinó cuatro de los cinco colores, y sólo repitió el verde. Tras topear con su blanca verde de hate bears, al día siguiente hizo una jugada maestra y cambió a Jund para el PTQ, seguro que alguna victoria le brindó el hecho que la gente pensara que jugaba lo mismo que el día anterior.

Todo muy bien y muy bonito, pero sólo podía ganar uno, y fue Carles Vela. Un jugador que vino desde Valencia para participar en nuestro torneo. Su mazo, una WUR de las de control, en vez de jugar Kiki-Jiki para combar con el Restoration, jugó Geist of Saint Traft que se defiende sólo y también hace buenas migas con el ángel. Uno de los mazos más versátiles del formato. Desde luego queremos felicitar a Carles por su merecida victoria!!!

Open Modern

El pasado día 9 jugamos el esperado Open de Modern. Con un montón de Fetchlands para tod@s!!!

La cantidad de mazos que existen en Modern estuvieron presentes en este Open. Fue una excelente manera de vislumbrar lo que iba ser el día siguiente en el PTQ. Mucha gente decidió venir a probar cosas nuevas, pero sobretodo a testear para intentar ganar el viaje a Honolulu.

Los mazos de attrition estuvieron muy presentes hasta las últimas rondas, así como los de Pod, tanto en su versión de Melira como con Kiki Jiki (hubo quien probó Kiki Jiki, para cambiar a Melira el domingo).
La final la pactaron Ferran Donoso, pilotando una B/G Rock (un mazo muy duro, que ataca todos los recursos de la partida (cartas de la mano, tierras, cementerio,etc.); uno de los mazo más completos que podemos encontrar) con Antonio Martos quien llevaba el mejor mazo aggro del formato: Affinity. La inclusión de Ensoul Artifact, de M15, hace que este mazo tenga más salidas explosivas. Martos demostró tener un fin de semana de cara, como veríamos al día siguiente.

Uno de los mazos más curiosos fue el pilotado por Alberto Quintero. A base de Doran y Zur, este mazo aprovecha la resistencia alta de de las criaturas para acabar la partida. Con Zur presente en el mazo, está lleno de encantamientos útiles, desde removal hasta ventaja de cartas con Courser of Kruphix. Mazos como este hacen pensar que el formato es abierto y hay sitio para los 'rogue deck'. Al día siguiente también consiguió llevarse premio a casa.

Sergio Vivas con D&T en el Open hizo otro buen resultado al día siguiente con Jund.

Habrá que preguntarles cuál es el secreto del éxito a estos tres jugadores, ya que demostraron ser unos verdaderos maestros de Modern.
